I've wanted a percolator for a long time, but I couldn't find one that really suited my needs. After giving it a lot of thought, I decided that the best thing would be to make one myself.
I had seen several ideas, including the famous “bottle method,” but I was never entirely convinced: cutting the bottle, struggling with a cap that doesn't allow you to regulate the drip properly... I think the invention would have worn down my patience😜.
I wanted something functional, not too big, closed, and easy to use. So I looked for the simplest way, with few materials, without plastic, and not too expensive.
The base is a vertical wooden box, which protects the contents from light while it percolates..
I made a wide hole in the top where I can easily add the plant material, solvent, and filters.
It is equipped with a jar lid to close the percolator once it is ready.
For the percolator, I use a wide-mouth borosilicate glass funnel with a Teflon shut-off valve that allows me to perfectly control the drip and ends in a needle shape.
To collect the extract, I use an ERLENMEYER FLASK. I need a piece between the needle and the flask (I have to give it some more thought).
In addition, the box closes completely, which prevents light, dust, or other impurities from entering while the process is underway.

⚗️ Summary: a wooden box, a jar lid, a funnel with a tap, and a flask or beaker.
I'm thrilled! It's a simple system, but it does exactly what I need it to do:
I'm sure I'll improve it as I use it, but for now it's working great.
